This house (right) built in 1995 continues to be in perfect condition with little maintenance needed.
The first custom bamboo home was made of bamboo poles and covered with ferro cement. Cement is spread onto both sides of the metal lathe until it is about an inch thick.
This was the first approved bamboo structure by the Maui County Building Department.

The largest bamboo+ferro cement home compound as a permitted dwelling in the western world: 2,400 sqft. Walls are bamboo poles and ferro cement. Trusses are bamboo poles.

This bamboo roof wave lanai was custom designed for an existing building on beachfront property on Maui. The roof wave covers an indoor/ outdoor lanai and reception area. It is 13 meters long and faces the ocean. The sculptural bamboo form reflects the waves that break against the nearby beach.

House designs consider the building site microclimate to ensure houses perform in the most challenging climates. In tropical climates, skylights, cupolas and built in ventilation are encouraged. For insulated homes in hot and cold climates, the customer chooses R-Values and insulation options.
